Kwara State Student Shot Dead By Suspected Cultists

Mohammed Isiaka, a 23-year-old computer science student at the Open University in Ilorin, Kwara state, was shot and killed today, July 12.

According to a statement made by SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the state police received information that Mohammed was shot in the chest at his home in the Akerebiata neighbourhood of Ilorin by a group of boys they believed to be cultists at around 4.30 p.m.

Ajayi claimed that police officers from the C Division rushed to the area as soon as they received the information and sent the victim to UITH, where a doctor on duty confirmed the victim’s death.

The victim’s body has been submitted for an autopsy.

SP Ajayi further stated that a covert and result-oriented inquiry into the situation has been requested by the state commissioner of police.

The statement partly reads, “The good people of KWARA STATE, particularly the residents of the area are advised to go about their lawful businesses as adequate security arrangements have been emplaced to forestall any revenge attack. The CP also assures the PEOPLE that the perpetrators of the heinous act would be fished out and prosecuted.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
