Lady Commits Suicide By Jumping Off 3rd Mainland Bridge

An unidentified lady has reportedly taken her own life by leaping off the Third Mainland Bridge into the waters close to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront in Lagos State on Thursday evening, March 13.

The event led to her passing despite attempts by marine police officers stationed nearby to rescue her, as they quickly reacted to the situation.

Speaking to Sahara Reporters, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence, noting that although marine police officers tried to save her, medical staff from the University of Lagos pronounced her deceased upon their arrival.

He mentioned that the body of the deceased has since been transported to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba for safekeeping.

“Today, March 13, 2025, at about 1600 hours, an unidentified lady reportedly jumped from the Third Mainland Bridge into the water near the UNILAG waterfront at approximately 1500 hours.

She was recovered at the University of Lagos shore slipway by a team of marine police officers stationed in the area. Despite their efforts, she was confirmed dead by a team of UNILAG medical doctors in the presence of officers from the Sabo Police Division.

Her body has been evacuated to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba, Lagos, for preservation,” Hundeyin said.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
