Lady Dumps Her Newborn Baby And Explains Why In A Written Note Beside The Child

A newborn baby girl, said to be three months old, was found abandoned along with a note written by her mother, in KwaZulu Natal Province, South Africa.

The infant was found by a man who was harvesting mangoes at the base of an embankment adjacent to a stream in Dawncrest, according to a statement issued by Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on Monday, October 3, 2022.

Next to the child was a bag containing diapers, a bottle of milk, a pacifier and a written note. According to the note, she attempted to call social workers twice but was unsuccessful.

The mother added that there was no choice regarding abortion because it was no longer safe and hospitals had strict policies.

She also asked that when the baby is found, the authorities be alerted.

The mother’s note read, “Hi, you might be wondering why I dumped my baby, don’t wonder, just help her if you can or call authorities but don’t judge me. I have spoken twice with social workers. They are delaying assistance. I know this looks bad but I had no option. The system is fragile and we can’t even abort safely anymore. Hospitals have strict rules.”

After being contacted, Reaction Officers were dispatched and they took custody of the child and the bag.

The child’s wet diaper was changed and was given a bottle of milk to drink when a female officer and medical assistance arrived.

The baby, who was about three months old, was in good health when doctors examined her.

A criminal case of child abandonment will be launched, and Reaction Officers will work to find the mother’s identity.
