Lagos Became Insecure Under Sanwo-Olu – Mr. Macaroni

Popular comedian and activist Adebowale Adedayo, better known as Mr. Macaroni, said security in Lagos state had deteriorated during the term of the current governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu.

Macaroni said so on his Twitter account Monday morning. He also lamented the level of repression, brutality and extrajudicial killings facing the state, and criticized the governor’s inability to “control” the police.

Sketchmaker was responding to the case of lawyer Bolanre Rahim, who was shot dead by police officers in the Aja district of Lagos state on Christmas Day.

PUNCH Metro had reported that the incident disrupted the community as an officer who was traveling with a team of officers fled the scene. It turns out that the woman was about to turn under the Aja Bridge when police officers opened fire on her car. A bullet hit the victim and she was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

In response to the incident, Macaroni tweeted: “Dear Governor Babjide Sanwo-olu, Since you became Governor, the level of insecurity, repression, brutality and extrajudicial killings has worsened. Please crack down on the police. Okay, but you’re the state’s Chief Security Officer. What are you doing about it, sir? “

In response to a tweet from state police spokesman Benjamin Handein, who described the incident as unfortunate and preventable, Macaroni said to the police commissioner, “If the police were to commit a crime before his guilt was proven, he would have been charged with a crime.” If it was a civilian who charged with them, please tell me their names.Take a picture or video after you hit them.Keep what’s yours.

“I pray that all our oppressors will answer for their crimes against humanity one day,” he added.

His PRO at State Police expressed condolences to the family of the deceased by his Twitter name, adding that the police officer responsible for the crime was arrested and transferred to the state’s Criminal Investigation Service.

Hundyin wrote: The ASP who fired and two others who were with him were subsequently taken into custody. They should be moved to the SCID for further investigation.

“The Lagos State Police Command condoles with the family, friends and colleagues of Barrister Bolanle Raheem.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, has been in touch with the family and the Nigerian Bar Association since yesterday and has given firm assurances that justice will definitely prevail.”

PUNCH Metro had earlier reported that the Nigerian Bar Association had said it would ensure that justice is served in the case, adding that the association’s president had stated that the case would be closely monitored.
