Lagos Begins Fight Against Indiscriminate Parking

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), on Monday, July 28, launched its campaign against haphazard parking across the state.

The Monitoring and Enforcement Team of LASPA descended on the Secretariat, issuing removal notices for vehicles improperly parked on kerbs, walkways, in double parking arrangements, and in areas marked with No Parking signs.

In a statement released, the State Parking Authority noted that during the enforcement operation, it observed that some vehicle owners, who are not state government officials but have offices near the State Secretariat in Alausa, frequently use the Secretariat for parking, thereby overwhelming the facility.

The statement further mentioned that LASPA’s enforcement team issued a 24-hour ultimatum to owners of vehicles violating the State Parking Regulations, demanding they remove their vehicles or face having them towed away.

Recall that the Lagos State Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, recently directed LASPA to begin enforcing regulations against indiscriminate parking within the State Secretariat in Ikeja and the Old Secretariat before expanding to other areas of the state.

LASPA, therefore, called on all Lagos residents to adhere to the State Parking Regulations by adopting a responsible parking culture, which includes following parking signs and avoiding traffic obstruction, emphasizing that enforcement against indiscriminate vehicle parking in the state has commenced.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
