The Lagos State Government has tightened its crackdown on unauthorised real estate developments around the Epe corridor in the state.
The declaration was made on Saturday, April 20, in Lagos by Oluyinka Olumide, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development.
He claimed that, on the instruction of the state executive council, he oversaw a special joint exercise to the axis on Thursday, April 18, and Friday, April 19.
Alaro City, Okorisan, Igbodu, Molajoye, Shaala, Ketu, and Epe were among the places he cited being covered during the exercise.
The Legend, Hilton Royal Garden, Patriot Bay Estate, and Smart City Estate were among the estate projects where Olumide said notices were also served.
Some of the others are Ibi Alafia, Topview Estate, Legacy City, Isinmi Lagos, Greenland Estate, and Dominion City.
He mentioned that negligent real estate developers were asked to contact the appropriate authorities in order to correct their documentation.
In his opinion, no developer should ever begin developing an estate without first securing the necessary planning permission, fencing permits, and layout approval.
The commissioner continued by saying that the specifications were required to guarantee the creation of a planned, habitable, and sustainable built environment.
Olumide clarified that although planning authorization took care of the planning requirements for specific estate plots, layout approval was necessary for the estate to be properly arranged to allow for the necessary amenities and infrastructure.
In order to prevent unneeded humiliation from government officials, he advised prospective property owners and buyers to exercise caution when making unapproved estate investments.
A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
