Lagos police Announce IED Simulation Exercise Around Eko Atlantic City Area

The Lagos State Police Command has announced that the Nigeria Police Force Explosives Ordnance Disposal – Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit will carry out an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) simulation exercise at Eko Atlantic City on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

In a statement, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, explained that this exercise is part of continuous efforts to enhance the Police’s readiness and response capabilities for any bomb-related emergency. The simulation will include controlled detonations performed by specialized units trained to manage explosive devices and associated threats.

He further noted that the public is informed that blast sounds will be audible during the exercise, but there will be no shrapnel or related hazards. Residents, workers, and visitors in and around the Eko Atlantic City area are therefore urged to stay calm, continue their normal activities, and refrain from panicking when they hear the sounds.

The Command assured Lagos residents that comprehensive safety measures have been implemented to ensure the exercise is conducted without any risk to lives or property.

Hundeyin added that CP Olohundare Jimoh, the state Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, uses this medium to appeal for the cooperation and understanding of the public while this important simulation exercise is conducted and assures them that the Command remains committed to their safety, security, and well-being.
