Lagos Pulls In Over N1bn In IGR During Covid 19 From Agriculture

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lagos State Government collected over N1 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in 2021.

Ms. Abisola Olusanya, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, made the announcement on Sunday at this year’s Lagos Food Fest, which was held at Victoria Island in Lagos. She explained that the event was organized to allow residents to unwind and relax with their families.

The Food Fest, according to Olusanya, is a follow-up to the five successful editions of the annual Lagos Seafood Festival, which took place from 2012 to 2020.

She went on to say that the event, which was an extension of the annual Seafood Festival, gave the state a chance to showcase its seafood types while also providing other intriguing side attractions.

She said, “We just want to give them the honor, we want to give them the accord for serving the State well, they have gone over and beyond in this year 2021 to deliver food security to a reasonable extent, for the first time in the history of the ministry, we’ve crossed a billion in IGR. So we feel that it’s imperative that we give them some form of appreciation”

The occasion was also used by the ministry to honor some of their great employees who helped them win victory in the previous year.

For great performances, prizes were awarded to both young and senior members of staff, as well as the highest revenue-generating agency, at the event.

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Governor, was the special guest of honor and was spotted making seafood rice alongside famous chef and Big Brother Naija winner Whitemoney, much to the pleasure of all the attendees.
The Food Fest, whose theme was “A Taste of Lagos,” was spiced up with a variety of engaging activities such as a fashion display and a music performance, among others.
