LASEPA Shuts Down Ariba Bistro Entertainment Hub Over Noise Pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has closed Ariba Bistro Night Life Entertainment Series, which is located within Martinos Hotel & Suites on Otunba Jobi Fele Way in Ikeja, due to frequent noise pollution complaints from adjacent residents.

The enforcement action, which took place on Tuesday, January 21, was prompted by repeated complaints about excessive noise levels, which LASEPA claimed breached the state’s environmental noise standards despite multiple warnings and discussions with the establishment’s management.

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, LASEPA’s General Manager, stressed that the closure demonstrates the agency’s commitment to reducing noise pollution and safeguarding public health and safety throughout Lagos.

He urged entertainment venues to follow environmental regulations in order to avoid such punishments.

“Noise pollution is a serious environmental concern that affects the quality of life and public health. The Lagos State Government has zero tolerance for activities that disrupt the peace and well-being of residents,” Ajayi remarked.

He also emphasized the health risks of noise pollution, stating that it relates to stress, hearing loss, and sleep difficulties.

Ajayi cautioned other facilities, including hospitality firms, event centers, and nightlife venues, to rigorously follow Lagos State’s noise laws or face similar enforcement action.

“This action serves as a warning to other establishments that disregard environmental laws,” he added.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
