Late Ex-Arsenal Player’s Family Evicted From Their Home

The family of former Arsenal striker Jose Antonio Reyes is reportedly facing eviction due to major financial problems following the former striker’s death.

The footballer was killed, along with his 23-year-old cousin, and another man received major burns when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned and burst into flames in Utrera, close outside Seville, where Reyes was born.

According to Spanish media, he was on his way home after training as his current club Extremadura did not select him to play against Cádiz in June 2019.

However, three homes owned by the players are slated to go up for sale in the coming days, including his parents’ home, which is now facing eviction by court order on June 26.

Diario AS previously claimed that his family was unable to pay the mortgages on three houses owned by Reyes.

The player’s parents are said to be in frequent communication with lawyers, claiming they have been kept in the dark about what is going on.

Their home is considered to be worth roughly £256,000, with another Utrera erect worth around £128,000, however, the value of the third property is unknown.

He had no will as a result of his death. His assets were then handed to his three children as primary beneficiaries, but because they were minors, they were passed on to his wife Noelia Lopez in turn.

Lopez, however, says that she had no awareness of the family’s problem and that she has had to deal with it without the support of Reyes’ extended family.

“I am finding out everything, and I am assimilating it,” she said of the news.

The death of the ex-Arsenal star apparently caused a schism between Lopez and the player’s family, and Lopez has reportedly since relocated to Jaen to be closer to her own family, which includes her two daughters from her marriage with Reyes.

Lopez admitted that she rarely has anything to do with her late husband’s finances, claiming: “I have always been on the sidelines of my husband’s financial affairs.”
