Liverpool Captain; Jordan Henderson Set To Sign New Contract

Liverpool Captain; Jordan Henderson Set To Sign New Contract

Captain of Liverpool football club; Jordan Henderson is set to start another phase in the club by signing a new long-term contract.

Jordan Henderson entered the final two years of his contract and was frustrated at the beginning of the summer when talks about extending his stay petered out.

According to The Athletic, after successful talks with Liverpool’s higher-ups, Henderson is expected to put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with the option to extend it by another year based on how many appearances he makes.

This comes after Van Dijk, Alisson, Fabinho and Alexander-Arnold signed new deals with the club.

It’s obvious that the Reds have finally reached an agreement with the midfield star, with manager Jurgen Klopp key, ending uncertainty surrounding his future at Anfield.

Ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Norwich City, Klopp expressed his confidence over Henderson’s long-term future on Merseyside.

Klopp told Sky Sports: “I know what’s going on behind the scenes and am relaxed.

“We don’t talk about these kinds of things, and we cannot make exemptions for one specific case.

“The one thing I can say is nobody has to worry. Things will go their way and be handled as they should be.

“That’s all I can give you as news but if I’m relaxed about this then you can imagine it’s going in the right direction.”

Klopp described tying down the quartet mentioned above as ‘great news’ for Liverpool.

“The most important thing for a football club is to have a really good football team,” Klopp explained.

“And when you have them together, you have to keep them.

“That’s really important because when there are big changes, and you have to start anew in different positions, to fill that hole, that’s a big problem in football. I’ve had that often enough in my life.

“But we don’t have that here now. It’s great news all these boys have signed new contracts.”

In the above report, it’s claimed a three-year deal on improved terms has been struck with the Reds and the experienced midfielder.

The captain’s new contract is said to have a fourth optional year, which is based on appearances.

Well, what do we have to say! Congrats Henderson, Excellent news! Well deserved!.
