Trump’s Agenda For His Second Term: Mass Deportations, Trade Wars, And Vengeance

If Donald Trump is elected to a second term in office in November, he intends to punish his political rivals, deport millions of migrants, and alter international trade through expensive tariffs.

Here are a some of the measures that Trump has promised to implement:

TRADE

The Republican candidate, Donald Trump, has suggested imposing a 10% tariff on all commodities imported into the US. He claims this would close the trade deficit, but opponents argue that it would drive up costs for US consumers and cause instability in the world economy.

In addition, he has stated that he ought to have the power to impose higher duties on nations that have imposed tariffs on goods imported from the United States.

China has been the focus of Mr. Trump’s actions. Over a period of four years, he suggests gradually eliminating Chinese imports of items including steel, electronics, and prescription drugs. His goal is to forbid Chinese enterprises from acquiring US infrastructure in the tech and energy industries.

Bureaucracy At The Federal Level

Trump would use an executive order that would reclassify thousands of employees so that they might be fired in an attempt to destroy what he refers to as the “deep state”—career federal officials he claims are secretly pursuing their agendas. That would probably face legal challenges. He has pledged to “root out” his political rivals and remove anyone he perceives as corrupt players holding positions of national security.

Trump has stated that, albeit having limited real authority to do so, he would have all federal employees pass a new civil service exam that he would create. Numerous possible personnel who might be relied upon to carry out his plans are being thoroughly screened by close allies as well.

He would establish an independent body to “monitor” US intelligence services and take harsh measures against government whistleblowers, who are generally protected by the law.

Investigating Adversaries

Mr. Trump has promised to look into his political opponents using federal law enforcement organizations. He has not yet stated the reasons for his desire to name a special prosecutor to look into Democratic President Joe Biden. Additionally, he stated that the Justice Department would look into district attorneys on innovative civil rights grounds, claiming that certain local prosecutors are illegally practicing selective enforcement.

Energy

By streamlining the permission process for drilling on federal land and supporting the construction of new natural gas pipelines, Mr. Trump has pledged to boost US production of fossil fuels.

He has declared that he will back greater nuclear energy production and that he will once more remove the United States from the Paris Climate Accords, a framework for lowering greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. In addition, he would reverse Mr. Biden’s efforts to reduce auto emissions, including his mandates for electric vehicles.

Economy

In addition to his energy and trade policies, Mr. Trump has pledged to cut back on federal regulations, which he claims impede the development of jobs. His economic team has talked about implementing more individual and corporate tax cuts beyond those that were implemented during his first term in office, and he has promised to maintain the large tax cut that he signed into law in 2017. As president, he pledged to exert pressure on the Federal Reserve to reduce interest rates.

Immigration

Mr. Trump has pledged to carry out his first-term initiatives that target illegal border crossings, undo Mr. Biden’s pro-immigrant policies, and enact broad new limitations.

In addition to launching the largest deportation operation in US history, Mr. Trump has promised to restrict access to asylum at the US-Mexico border. This is expected to lead to legal challenges and resistance from Democrats in Congress.

In defiance of the long-standing interpretation of the US Constitution, Mr. Trump has stated that he would like to remove the automatic citizenship granted to children born to immigrants.

Abortion

Three judges who were part of the majority that eliminated the constitutional protection for abortion were appointed by Mr. Trump to the US Supreme Court. He would probably keep selecting federal judges who would support restrictions on abortion.

International Relations

However, he has stated that state legislatures should handle the matter and that a federal abortion ban is not essential. He has maintained that any legislation should include exceptions for rape, incest, and the mother’s health and that the six-week restriction supported by some Republicans is unduly severe. Additionally, he has publicly voiced his opposition to an even more stringent ban that an Arizona court imposed.

Mr. Trump has expressed disapproval of the US’s backing of Ukraine in its conflict with Russia and claimed if elected, that he could put a stop to the conflict in a day, though he hasn’t explained how he would do it.

Additionally, Mr. Trump declared that America would radically reevaluate “Nato’s purpose and Nato’s mission” if elected president. Even while he hasn’t made many concrete policy recommendations, he hinted to Reuters in an interview last year that Ukraine could need to give up some land to come to a peace deal.

For months, Republicans in Congress refused to support a $61 billion aid plan for Ukraine because Mr. Trump opposed it. In late April, the deal was eventually passed by Congress.

Although he first criticized Hamas’ leaders following the militant group’s strikes on Israel in October, he has since backed Israel in its battle against the terrorist organization. He has also mentioned sending military forces into Mexico to fight drug gangs while out on the campaign road.

Education

Mr. Trump has promised to eliminate diversity initiatives from schools and institutions and to force them to “defend American tradition and Western civilization”. He declared that he would order the Justice Department to bring civil rights actions against educational institutions that practice racial discrimination.

Mr. Trump would be in favor of K–12 initiatives that let parents pay for private or religious education with tax dollars.

Criminal Activities

According to Mr. Trump, drug dealers and people traffickers will face the death penalty. Additionally, he has advocated for shooting retail store looters while they are still there.

Homelessness

Trump has promised to outlaw “urban camps” in American cities and to make homeless individuals submit to drug treatment or risk being arrested.

Then, he added, he would “open large parcels of inexpensive land” to the relocation of tent towns, manned by medical professionals, drug counselors, and mental health specialists.

Gentle Reminder: Be careful how you use your authority and influence, be wise, and treat others with respect.
