Luis Suarez May Retire From Football Due To Reoccurring Injury

Luis Suarez, a former striker for Barcelona and Liverpool, may soon end his career in football after it was discovered that he experiences “constant pain” as a result of his ongoing injury problems.

Since leaving his childhood club, Nacional, at the end of December of last year, the Uruguayan striker is currently playing in Brazil with Serie A team Gremio.

He has 25 appearances for the team in all competitions, although he is now dealing with injury issues.

Luis Suarez, who has so far missed six games due to injury, is now said to be in “constant pain” and may soon retire, according to the club president.

In a video that appeared on Twitter, the club president Alberto Guerra said: “Luis Suárez is reaching his limit.

“To be able to play he is given almost daily injections and special treatments, he feels constant pain. The thing is serious.”

Suarez’s knee issues have been ongoing, and he underwent surgery while playing for Barcelona, which put him out of play for 149 days.

Despite having injury issues, the 36-year-old was able to contribute eight assists along with 11 goals during his appearances with the Brazilian team.

Suarez scored one of his team’s goals in a 2-1 victory over Caxias RS on aggregate, and he also assisted the team in winning the Campeonato Gacho 2023 championship.

Suarez played for his childhood club Nacional in the Uruguayan Primera División before transferring to Gremio at the beginning of the year.

He managed to score eight goals in 16 games during his six-month stay at the club, which helped them win the league.

After departing Atletico Madrid in 2022, Suarez declared an end to his stint in Europe. He had lived in Madrid for two years and played for the La Liga champions in 2020–2021.

He had previously played for Liverpool for four years and Barcelona for six years, scoring 280 goals in a combined 416 appearances.
