Man Arrested After S*xually Assaulting His Great-Grandniece

A 75-year-old man named Musa Gambo has been detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on suspicion of s*xually assaulting his great-grandniece, age 6, in Jigawa State.

Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Adamu Shehu, the Jigawa State NSCDC Command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrest in a statement to DAILY POST.

He stated that the suspect was apprehended following a complaint from a social worker who had received an urgent phone call from a member of the victim’s family who claimed to have caught the suspect in the act while visiting the girl’s grandmother.

According to Adamu, NSCDC agents detained the suspect on Wednesday at 1 pm in Gandun Sarki Quarters in the Malam Madori LGA on suspicion of raping a six-year-old girl who is his great-grandniece.

Malama Maimuna, an eyewitness, claimed that she saw the elderly man s*xually abusing the girl in his room while she was sitting on his lap.

“I immediately informed the girl’s grandmother who rushed to the room and also saw the same,” she said.

According to CSC Adamu, the girl confirmed that the suspect, who frequently gave her candy and told her not to tell anyone, had assaulted her on multiple occasions.

According to a medical report from the Dutse General Hospital’s S*xual Assault and Referral Center (SARC), the girl’s hymen was broken, which was indicative of s*xual abuse.

According to Adamu, the suspect has admitted to the crime and blamed the devil for his actions. At the end of the investigation, he will reportedly be charged in court.
