Man Arrested After Trying To Rob With A Toy Gun

Agents of the Ogun State-owned security service, So-Safe Corps, have apprehended a suspected robber who attacked a commercial biker.

The suspect, Ibrahim Oluwaseun, 22, a resident of Olorogbo Compound in the Asheko/Ibatefin Area of Ipokia Local Government in Ogun State, was detained on Friday.

According to reports, the suspect disguised as a passenger and paid Bamidele Mujeeb, an okada rider, to take him from Aferiku Street in Idiroko to Obalana Street on the Bebe Road, which leads to the Republic of Benin.

Soji Ganzallo, the State Commander of the So-Safe, who made this announcement in a statement signed by Moruf Yusuf, the Corps’ Director of Information and Public Relations, claimed that the suspect, who was on a robbery mission, later gave the bike man instructions to pass through a confined road that leads to the same location.

The suspect then ordered the rider to surrender his bike or risk losing his life, pulling out what was later determined to be a toy gun.

The suspect said, “At the scene, the So-Safe patrol team, Idiroko division, led by CSC Abdulkareem Muhammad, witnessed the funny act, pounced on the suspect and got him arrested. The suspect confessed to the crime during a preliminary investigation.”

The suspect, his victim, the motorcycle, and the confiscated toy gun, have all been transferred to the police at the divisional headquarters of the Idiroko division for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Ipokia Area Command, led by ACC Yusuf Aliu, and the divisions under it have been put on high alert in order to stop miscreants from harming law-abiding bike riders and to stop a series of crimes that are being committed by some okada riders.
