A 25-year-old man from Kwekwe, Zimbabwe, has tragically passed away in what appears to be a suicide after allegedly detonating explosives, leaving only his teeth as identifiable remains. The devastating event took place on Independence Day and has prompted a thorough police investigation.
The individual, named Talent Runi, was discovered deceased in his rented room in Kwekwe’s Mbizo suburb. Midlands Deputy Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Fungai Ngawagare, stated that the Zimbabwe Republic Police are diligently examining the case. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms investigating a suspected suicide case in which a 25-year-old Mbizo man was found dead in his room with his teeth blown out and blood stains all over,” Ngawagare told The Mirror.
Responding officers noted that the room was drenched in blood, with only Runi’s teeth recovered from the apparent explosion. No other recognizable body parts were located, indicating the extreme force of the blast.
It was revealed that Runi had recently traveled to Kwekwe from Gokwe with his cousin, Tinotenda Tsvangira. After arriving, the two went their separate ways, but later that day, Tsvangira received a distressing call from their aunt, who warned that Runi was reportedly considering suicide. Concerned, Tsvangira hurried to Runi’s home, found the doors locked, and entered through a window, only to encounter the horrific scene of Runi’s remains and blood scattered throughout the room.
Investigators found several items at the scene, including used and unused explosives, igniting cords, and a box of matches, suggesting that the explosives were directly involved in the suspected suicide.
The police are ongoing with their inquiry to uncover the events leading to the explosion and to establish the exact cause of death. The shocking incident has left the local community reeling as they await further details from the continuing investigation.
