Man Dies Falling From Moving Train On His Way To ‘Death Island’

Ryan is believed to have fallen and been struck by a portion of the concrete platform while the train was still rolling, before dragging himself below to avoid the wheels, although he eventually passed out and died from blood loss.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Rathnont Kasemchaisit of the Photharam Police said: “The dead man was shirtless, wearing brown shorts and a necklace, and lying on his back with severe injuries on both of his legs.

“He had in his pocket a wallet containing various documents and Thai banknotes.

“From the preliminary investigation, there were no traces of assault. We believe he had been dead for at least five hours.

“The Canadian did not die instantly. He managed to crawl under the platform, but died of blood loss later on.”

When Ryan’s girlfriend Shona woke up an hour after he had departed, she stated she started to worry because he was not on the train and could not be reached.

At roughly 10:30 p.m. local time, she got off the train and informed the authorities at the closest station.

Authorities began searching the 30 km of tracks between the Khlong Bang Tan Railway Station and the Ban Kluai Railway Station using the GPS tracker on Ryan’s phone. But they were unable to find him.

Officers at Photharam Police Station learned that a deceased foreign national had been discovered beneath the platform of the Chet Samian Railway Station when the search got underway the next morning.

Police arrived at the scene and saw dried blood on the platform’s side and in the gravel. Ryan was discovered spread out on the dirt beneath the platform.

A pair of headphones, a smartphone, and footwear thought to belong to the deceased were also discovered nearby.

Makala, a 23-year-old Cambodian rail worker who discovered the body, disclosed he sleeps under the platform on his breaks.

He stated that he was stunned and dashed to alert his employer when he discovered the Canadian’s body that day.

He said: “The person was lying down, so I thought he was sleeping at first. When I took a closer look, he was not breathing. I was scared so I rushed to inform my supervisor about it.”

According to the authorities, Ryan might have been struck in the leg by the poorly lit platform, which was only around 50 centimetres from the train tracks.

Shona, 23, claimed that he had been in Thailand since February 17 and that she had taken a plane to Thailand soon afterwards to join him in celebrating his birthday.

The Forensic Institute received Ryan’s body in order to perform a post-mortem examination. Police claimed they had forwarded the information to the Canadian Embassy so they could notify his family of his passing.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
