Man Giving Life Sentence For Sexually Assaulting His Children

An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sentenced Ademola Oladimeji to four life sentences for sexually assaulting his three children, ages five, seven, and nine, respectively on Monday, January 22.

The presiding judge, Justice Abiola Soladoye, delivered judgment in the case, ruling that the prosecution witnesses’ evidence was credible and honest. The judge also stated that their evidence showed the charge of sexual assault by penetration, not defilement. According to her, the investigative police officer and their mother corroborated the three survivors’ testimony.

“Upon careful review of the evidence before the court, the children did not say their father inserted his penis into their ‘bum bum’, they only said he touched their ‘bum bum’. I observed the three of them. They did not lie about their father, they did not say he used his penis, he only used his fingers. The children gave unshaken testimonies of how their father fiddled with their innocence multiple times by inserting his fingers into their vaginas. The wife of the defendant, in her testimony, said the children complained of pain in their private and she was informed at the Mirabel Medical Centre that the children had been sexually assaulted,” the judge held.

The judge further stated that the defendant was anxious to separate himself from the allegations by denying the charges.

“To the mind of this court, I do not believe his narration though he denied fiddling with his daughters but his testimony did not add up. His narration shows how desperate he is to get out of the charge against his own children. The court holds that there was penetration as oral and documentary evidence before the court pointed to the fact that the defendant messed around with the purity of his three children.”

Soladoye claimed that the defendant’s actions were vile, morally corrupt, incestuous, and contrary to the natural order. The court, who stated that the prosecution failed to establish the three counts bordering on defilement, modified the charge to sexual assault by penetration and convicted him on all of them.

She also found Oladimeji guilty of the fourth count of sexual assault by penetration and sentenced him to life in prison on all counts.

The sentence, the court determined, would run consecutively. The judge also stated that the convict’s name would be entered into the Lagos State Sexual Offences Register.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
