Man Is Upset That His Girlfriend Gets A Valentine’s Day Card Every Year From Her Dad

Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to express your love and concern for the people you care about. It encompasses all forms of love, adoration, or gratitude you may have for someone else, not only romantic love.

Apparently, one man doesn’t really know what St. Valentine’s Day is fully about. The boyfriend’s attitude toward her dad sending her Valentine’s Day cards has “caused a full-blown argument,” which has the woman frightened.

In a Reddit post, a 26-year-old lady revealed the argument she and her boyfriend were having. She clarified that her spouse, who is 28 years old, is upset due to Valentine’s Day.

A 26-year-old lady posted on Reddit about the argument she and her boyfriend were having. She clarified that her father always sends her Valentine’s Day cards, which is why her 28-year-old partner is furious.

“My … dad buys me a Valentine’s card every year,” she said. “My … partner has an issue with it. We have a five-month-old baby and [have] been together for 16 months,” she wrote.

“What are your thoughts?” she questioned her fellow Redditors. “A full-fledged argument has resulted from it.”

People on Reddit were quick to respond to the woman’s plea. It was generally accepted that the man exaggerated a sentimental holiday custom between a father and daughter.

“A father giving his daughter a Valentine’s card is just a wholesome tradition, not something to be jealous of,” one person argued. “If your [boyfriend] is this insecure over something so harmless, that’s a red flag. You deserve a partner who supports your family bond, not one who tries to make it an issue.”

Boyfriend doesn’t want to have to live up to the standard dad has set,” another suggested. “He’s feeling very insecure. Find one more like Dad.” A third person added, “Your partner does not seem to know or understand what a father’s love is, it seems. Ask him if one day he gives his child a Valentine’s Day card or [if] the kid brings a Valentine’s card they made at school if there’s anything wrong with that.”

One person said, “You’re not compatible and only together because you got pregnant after two months of dating,” which was a fairly direct appraisal of the situation.

Despite being primarily associated with romantic relationships, Valentine’s Day is still celebrated in a variety of ways. For instance, most children exchange Valentine’s Day cards with their classmates at school. Some parents celebrate with their kids while some grandparents also celebrate with their Grandkids. It is just a celebration of LOVE.

According to Sam Goldstein, Ph.D., “Children and young people benefit from understanding that love is not just about romance but also about kindness, empathy, and connection. Valentine’s Day can serve as a teaching moment, encouraging young people to cultivate meaningful relationships, appreciate family bonds, and develop emotional intelligence.”

This explanation makes it perfectly OK to give your child a Valentine’s Day card.

It also raises concerns about the type of love lesson this dad wishes to impart to his child. He acts with a lack of security and, in reality, a lack of love.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
