Rabilu Adamu has been arrested by the Gombe State Police Command for the kidnapping and murder of his 3-year-old nephew, Ismail Sadi.

Rabilu Adamu, of Gombe Abba, Dukku Local Government Area, Gombe State, and his accomplice, Ado Yusuf, 28, of Soro, Darazo Local Government Area, Bauchi State, were arrested for alleged criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, and culpable homicide.

According to the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, on October 20, 2023, a formal complaint was made to the police in the area by one Malam Sadi Musa of Gombe Abba, Dukku LGA Gombe State.

He complained that on October 18, 2023, at approximately 100 hours, he discovered that his 3-year-old son, Ismail Sadi, had been kidnapped by an unknown person, but he later suspected one Rabilu Adamu, his nephew, after noticing his suspicious movement while searching for the missing child.

When the officer in charge of the Gombe Abba Police Outstation and his team received the complaint, they rushed to the area, arrested Rabilu, and brought him to the station for questioning.

Following a thorough investigation, the suspect admitted to handing over the said Ismail to his accomplice, Ado Yusuf of Zoro village, Darazo LGA Bauchi State, after they kidnapped him together in Gombe Abba village.

A team of Dukku Division Police operatives led by the DPO swung into action and arrested the said Ado, who denied having the victim in his custody even after arriving at the Dukku Divisional Police Headquarters.

During interrogation, the two suspects admitted to kidnapping the victim on 18/10/2023 around 10 a.m., transporting him to an unknown location, tying him with rope, and leaving him lying down until 11 p.m.

Further investigation revealed that after picking up the three-year-old boy, the suspects murdered him, placed him in a sack, and took him to the room of Rabilu, his cousin.

The body had already begun to decompose when it was discovered by police and taken to a hospital for certification, while the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime.
