Man Lands Three Months Jail Term For Throwing Refuse On Lagos Road

A Nigerian individual has been ordered to serve three months in prison after being apprehended for illegally discarding waste along the Lekki-Epe expressway.

The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, posted a video capturing the moment authorities caught the man with his vehicle loaded with grass, unlawfully unloading it by the roadside.

In a statement posted on X on Monday, Wahab announced that the driver was detained, his vehicle confiscated, and he would face immediate court proceedings. He delivered a firm warning, emphasizing that the state would not condone actions jeopardizing the environment or public health. Enforcement remains vigilant, and offenders will face full consequences.

In an update provided this afternoon, Wahab confirmed that the accused was brought before the Magistrate Court in Oshodi, convicted, and sentenced to three months imprisonment.

‘’Following the arrest of this suspect yesterday at Lekki Express way for dumping refuse on the road, he was arraigned today before the Magistrate Court sitting at Oshodi, found guilty and sentenced to 3 months in prison.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
