Man Reprimanded For Sodomising 14-Year-Old

Sani Salihu, a 45-year-old man, was ordered by Chief Magistrate Court I to remain in prison after being accused of sodomizing a 14-year-old child in Adamawa State.

The kid was dragged into a nearby bush, intimidated with a pair of scissors, and subjected to sexual abuse, according to evidence presented in court before Magistrate Alheri Ishaku Salihu. Salihu is from Jippu Jam in Yola South LGA.

Salihu, a business man, allegedly penetrated the child through the anus on June 24, 2023, after threatening to use scissors if he didn’t comply, according to police prosecutor Inspector Zakka Musa during the defendant’s arraignment.

On June 27, 2023, the boy’s father—a resident of Yola South LGA’s Modire Ward of Yolde Pate—reported the incident to the police.

The defendant, who was accused of committing an “unnatural offence” in violation of Section 263 of the Penal Code, entered a not-guilty plea.

The magistrate requested that the defendant be remanded in custody and set the case for further mention on July 20, 2023.

The prosecutor had asked for permission to duplicate the case file and send it to the director of public prosecution for legal counsel, and the order came as a result of his request.

In a separate occurrence, Sani Salihu was sentenced to two years in prison by the Magistrate Court after being summarily convicted of a different offence.

After being found guilty of resisting his legitimate arrest for the initially claimed offence, he was sentenced to jail time and offered the option of paying a N100,000 fine.

On July 3, 2023, when he was initially brought before the court, he was charged with trying to flee while being transported to Yolde Pate Correctional Center by Inspector Ahmed Mohammed of the CID.

The convict attempted to flee from the tricycle he was being transported in at Yolde Pate, according to Inspector Zakka Musa, who testified in court. However, the officer eventually caught up with him and re-arrested him.
