“Managing Chelsea Is The Hardest Job In Football” – Graham Potter

The job of managing English football club Chelsea FC has been called “the hardest job in football” by coach Graham Potter.

Following a strong start at the club, during which they went nine games without a loss, Potter’s team has been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions and has dropped to tenth place in the Premier League standings.

Ahead of Chelsea’s Thursday quick trip to Fulham, neighbours in west London, Potter mentioned some factors in his comment as reasons for making the Chelsea job much harder.

Regarding the sanctions imposed by Roman Abramovich that compelled the club to change ownership, Potter said: “Change is a challenge in any organisation. Listen, I am sure that the changes happened because of events outside of this and us. It’s not like there’s been a coup.

“This is what it is. We have to deal with the new and we have to build things up again because things have changed, things have gone and left. That’s part of the challenge to come and I understood that things would be difficult from a leadership perspective.

“It is a challenge, stimulating and ridiculously hard. I think it is probably the hardest job in football because of that leadership change and the expectation – because rightly where people see Chelsea.

“I obviously didn’t think we’d lose 10 first-team players but that’s where we are at. All I can do is speak to you guys honestly, give my perspective and understand the criticism if you lose.”

Graham Potter was hired earlier this season after Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s new boss sacked Thomas Tuchel after some disappointing performances in both league and cup games.

However, Chelsea FC is not seeing the desired result they expected, especially after spending £271 million during the 2022 summer transfer window.

The club has now signed Joao Felix, an Atletico Madrid player on loan, in the hope not to relegate this season.
