Manchester City’s Benjamin Mendy Found Not Guilt Of Six Counts Of Rape

Benjamin Mendy, a football player for Manchester City, has been cleared on six counts of rape and one count of s*xual assault.

he was found not guilty on all counts, after an August 2022 trial that included six counts of rape and one count of s*xual assault.

The jury was unable to reach a decision on two additional charges against Mendy after 14 days of deliberation at Chester Crown Court.

These charges included one count of attempted rape in October 2018 and one count of rape in October 2020 involving women aged 24 and 29.

The two charges of attempted rape and rape, on which the jury was deadlocked, will be tried again against Mendy, the Crown Prosecution Service declared.

Louis Saha Matturie, Mendy’s co-accused, was found not guilty on three counts, however, could face a possible retrial on six charges against him.

The trial was concluded on Friday, January 13 when Judge Everett released the jury.

Both men had been on trial for multiple alleged sexual offences made by 13 different women since August 10th.

Prosecutor Matthew Conway announced that the plaintiff would ask for a new trial on the counts where the jury was deadlocked.

He said, “The prosecution has made a decision. We have made a decision today, which is to proceed on these counts in two separate trials and we seek today a provisional case management.”

Manchester City commented on the development in a statement, saying: “Given there are open matters related to this case, the club is not in a position to comment further at this time.”

According to testimony given in court, Mr Mendy’s life as a football player was “over” as a result of the allegations and trial, and he would “never escape” them.

The player has not been allowed to participate in his Manchester City team activities as the case still remains open.
