It is now believed that Ronaldo sought to leave United this summer, citing his desire to play Champions League football as a primary motivation.

However, the Premier League team is serious about keeping the Portugal captain, and new manager Erik ten Hag concurs.

On Monday, Ronaldo is expected to arrive at United’s training facility to start his preseason schedule. The team is slated to leave on Friday for their preseason tour of Asia and Australia, and the club is expecting him to show up.
