Manchester United To Rest Harry Maguire Following Bomb Threat

Manchester United is said to have decided to rest captain Harry Maguire against Arsenal on Saturday at the Emirates.

Before heading to London, Maguire met up with the rest of the crew at Manchester Airport. However, after receiving a bomb threat late on Thursday, the centre-back will not start the game, though he may still be named on the bench.

Maguire’s £4 million Cheshire property, which he shares with girlfriend Fern Hawkins and their two young girls, was inspected by police sniffer dogs, but nothing was discovered.

The bomb threat was sent through email, with the sender – believed to be an enraged fan – threatening to install an explosive device at the England international’s home.

According to Maguire’s spokesperson: “In the last 24 hours, Harry has received a serious threat to his family home.

“He has reported this to the police who are now looking into the matter.

“The safety of his family and those around him is obviously Harry’s number one priority.

“He will continue to prepare for this weekend’s fixture as normal and we will not be commenting in any further detail at this time.”

Despite his great achievements in England, Maguire has been subjected to hostility from Manchester United fans all season and was even booed by England supporters.

Harry Maguire, however, refuses to be kicked out of the club, and a spokesperson for the defender called the bomb threat a “coward.”
