Massive 10-foot Snake Bursts Through The Ceiling As A Family Watches TV

A 10-foot reticulated python smashed through the ceiling of a Malaysian family’s home as they were watching TV, giving them a terrible surprise.

The incident happened in Malaysia’s Sarawak state’s Miri Division at Kampung Pasir Lutong. At 11:09 p.m. local time, the mother of the family called the Miri District Operations Control Center to the location. Four members of the defense force arrived at the residence 30 minutes later and were shown where the invader was hiding in the kitchen, under a box, according to APM Miri Officer Mirwan Shah Bin Masri.

The 17-pound snake was taken out by the team using specialized tools, and it was then returned to its native environment. The capturing of the python took close to thirty minutes.

One of the world’s longest snake species is the reticulated python. Although the longest recorded measurement was over 32 feet, they frequently reach lengths of over 20 feet. The species is native to Southeast Asia, and despite widespread hunting for their skins, numbers have remained largely constant throughout their natural area.

Even though the animals prefer the habitat of the forest, they have been discovered in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysian Borneo’s sewer systems.

“Pythons are usually found in the forest and look for prey,” Masri said. “Pythons can live near rivers and can be found in areas with rivers and lakes nearby. They spend most of their time on or under the ground in burrows,” Masri said. When resting, startled or defensive, these pythons curl tightly into a ball, concealing their vulnerable head among the coils.”

Although uncommon, attacks on people do happen. A woman from Indonesia, whose body was discovered within a 23-foot python, is among the numerous accounts of people being eaten by these snakes.

The best advice is to remain cool and contact your neighborhood animal rescue facility if you find a snake inside your home. You should avoid handling the snake because doing so can compel it to launch a defense mechanism.
