Right Reverend Nkechi Nwosu as the first female bishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Archdiocese of Kaduna.

The Most Reverend Joseph Nnonah; Archbishop of Kaduna, officially installed Right Reverend Nkechi Nwosu as the Bishop of Jos at the Christ Methodist Cathedral Church in Jos, North Central Nigeria.

The purpose of the church service is to formally implement the decision of the Methodist Church of Nigeria’s annual conference, which chose Nwosu to serve as the Bishop of Jos in 2022.

People from the Diocese of Jos gathered to watch Bishop Nwosu be formally installed as its leader at an enthronement liturgy led by the Archbishop of Kaduna archdiocese.

Nwosu asserted that all people are created equal by God. She urged everyone in Nigeria, especially as the national elections get underway on February 25, to always seek the face of God.

“We must all go out there and agree with God, listen to the spirit of God, and do what God said we should do,” the new bishop stated.

“Do that so that God will use us and anybody he will put on that seat to restore Nigeria to a place of pride in Africa, and the world.”

Following the administration of the Enthronement Act on the bishop as instructed by the conference and in accordance with the wishes and consent of the Diocese of Jos, the bishop officially began her spiritual activities as the Bishop of Jos Diocese, which she views as a privilege in the unprejudiced spread of the gospel.

The installation of Nwosu as the first female bishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria is unquestionably a call to Christendom that the task of spreading the gospel transcends gender problems.
