Michael Jackson’s Nephew Will Play King Of Pop In Biopic

In the upcoming biopic of Legendary Michael Jackson, his 26-year-old nephew; Jaafar Jackson will portray the King of Pop which will be directed by Antoine Fuqua.

Jackson has been cast in the movie being made by Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King, according to a Monday announcement from Lionsgate.

Jackson is the second-youngest child born to Michael’s brother Jermaine Jackson. He has released music of his own; his debut single, Got Me Singing, was released in 2019. Michael will be Jackson’s acting debut.

“I met Jaafar over two years ago and was blown away by the way he organically personifies the spirit and personality of Michael,” said King in a statement.

“It was something so powerful that even after conducting a worldwide search, it was clear that he is the only person to take on this role.”

On Instagram, Fuqua shared a black-and-white photograph of Jackson in character.

Jackson “has a natural talent to replicate Michael and such a terrific chemistry with the camera,” Fuqua continued in a statement.

Jackson wrote on Twitter that bringing my Uncle Michael’s story to life had left him feeling “humbled and honored.”

Michael will be a recognized representation of the deceased pop artist from 2009. The singer’s estate has cooperated in the production of the movie, which was written by Gladiator and The Aviator screenwriter John Logan.

In a statement, Katherine Jackson said that Jaafar “embodies my son. It’s amazing to watch him continue the heritage of entertainers and performers left by Michael Jackson.”$

Michael will start filming this year.
