Alhaji Amadu Surajo, the Katsina State Acting Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, was killed by suspected bandits in Mai Rana village, Kusada Local Government Area of the state, on Saturday night, January 4, 2025.
It was reported that the bandits also killed three people and injured a number of others.
They also abducted Surajo’s two wives and one of his daughters, an undergraduate student at one of the nation’s public universities.
However, a source familiar with the incident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed that the bandits later freed Surajo’s first wife.
The Katsina State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident on Sunday.
“The DPO informed me that the incident happened last night,” the PPRO said.
Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, also attested to Surajo’s murder.
“Yes, he was k!lled yesterday by the bandits,” Mu’azu said.
In accordance with Islamic customs, Surajo’s and other deceased people’s bodies are anticipated to be interred later on Sunday morning, while the injured have been receiving care.
