Mosquito Coil Causes Fire That Leads To De@th Family

Four individuals from the same family have per1shed in a fire incident that broke out at Kundila, Layin Baba Impossible, within Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.

The tragedy, which took place at approximately 4:13 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, was officially confirmed through a statement released by the spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.

The agency disclosed that its Emergency Response Unit was alerted to the emergency via a distress call made by one of its own personnel, HFS Abba Datti.

Firefighting crews from the service headquarters were promptly dispatched to the location.

When they reached the site, the firefighters discovered a single-storey residential structure measuring 40 by 30 feet already fully consumed by fire, with the blaze suspected to have been ignited by a mosquito coil.

The flames ravaged two bedrooms, a parlour, a toilet, and a kitchen inside the house.

Five people were trapped inside the burning building at the time: the father, Shodandi, aged 43; the mother, Rafi’a, aged 30; Mardiya Shodandi, aged 3 years; Yusira Shodandi, aged one and a half years; and Aminu Shodandi, aged 12 years.

According to the statement, four of the trapped victims — the father, the mother, and the two youngest children — were burnt to de@th before rescue efforts could reach them.

Nevertheless, the 12-year-old boy, Aminu, was successfully pulled out alive.

The Kano State Fire Service extended its heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and urged members of the public to be more vigilant, particularly during the harmattan period when incidents of fire are considerably more common.

Initial findings from the Fire Service investigation indicate that the fire originated from a mosquito coil that had been left burning in the parlour before the family retired for the night.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
