Mother Is Charged With Murd£ring Her Three-Year-Old Daughter

A mother faces murder charges after her three-year-old daughter was discovered deceased at a residence in Leeds.

Pippa McGrath, aged 47, is set to appear before Leeds Magistrates’ Court this morning, accused of killing the young child.

West Yorkshire Police have identified the victim as Hope McGrath and confirmed she was the daughter of the alleged perpetrator.

The mother was taken into custody after police responded to a call expressing concern for a young child’s safety at a semi-detached house on Austhorpe Court, Leeds, last Wednesday.

Paramedics attended the scene but were unable to save the young girl, who was pronounced dead there.

McGrath was also transported to a hospital and subsequently charged with murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson, from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, stated on Thursday: ‘Sadly when emergency services attended at an address on Austhorpe Court, Leeds, yesterday the body of a 3-year-old girl was found inside.

‘We are treating this as an isolated incident and are not seeking anyone else in connection with it.

‘I understand that such a tragic incident as this will cause shockwaves in the local community and that there will be speculation about what has happened.

‘I would ask people to please let us investigate and if you do have any information that you think could assist our enquiries to get in contact with the investigation team.’

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
