Motherhood: Choosing The Best Parenting Style: Managerial Vs Consulting 4

Hello Great Mothers!

Parenting is an important topic in motherhood. According to Wikipedia, it is an act of supporting and promoting the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive development of a child from infancy to adulthood. Through parenting, a child’s life is gradually formed, and the result is determined by our inputs.

These determine who the child becomes. Even if the child grows up to be a renowned professor, medical doctor, or journalist. Is that child an honest, responsible, professor? Is he emotionally or psychologically balanced?

hence, the parenting style we adopt when nurturing our children is very important. As noted in previous articles, it determines our children’s mental and psychological health. The development of our children’s health is important.

Though most of us are unaware of our method, we must consciously determine the style we use at a time.

The managerial style has been discussed in detail in the previous article. The consulting style will be discussed here.

The Consulting Parenting Style

The consulting parenting style involves parents acting more like advisors or consultants than authoritative figures. We can use this technique to guide and encourage our children.

With this parenting style, we encourage them to make their own decisions and learn from their experiences. The emphasis of this method is on developing independence, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. You may have been using this parenting style unconsciously.

The following are the components of the consultant parenting style;

● Children are not told what to do. Suggestions are made and guidance is provided. In this way, they are encouraged to consider the options they have before them and make independent decisions.
● This method promotes self-reliance and independence. Children have autonomy and are encouraged to rely on themselves. This method helps them to develop the skills needed to take charge of their own life. They are equipped with all they need to solve life challenges themselves.

Is the consulting parenting style similar to the methods you have been implementing to nurture your children? Please share your experience.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
