Motherhood: Gratitude – An Important Virtue Needed For Children’s Emotional Growth 7

The quality of gratitude is the act of being thankful. It is having the capacity to express appreciation and return thanks for what you have or gifts/favors you have received from others.

Having gratitude means being conscious of the positive events in your life, being appreciative of them, and taking the time to show gratitude and extend kindness to others. Saying “thank you” is just the beginning of being appreciative. Expressing appreciation might genuinely boost your sense of well-being.

Teaching appreciation in today’s world is not a simple task, and neither is it easy to learn how to be grateful. This is because the world we live in is quite materialistic. Material things are constantly brought to us via social media, television, and everywhere else we go. Someone is always using the newest technology. And the present children feel it is their right to have this thing anytime they want it. Also, In our modern environment, it occasionally seems as though technology is more important than people. It’s more crucial than ever to instill the act of gratitude in our children.

According to a Greek saying, “Swift gratitude is the sweetest.” It emphasizes the importance of prompt rather than delayed thankfulness by highlighting the narrative of the one leper who expressed gratitude to Jesus while the other nine went their ways.

Children must be taught to express gratitude from an early age of their life; otherwise, they risk developing an uncomfortable sense of entitlement to the advantages that come their way. Every day, children should show their gratitude by taking good care of themselves and their possessions. They should practice using the polite “thank you” or writing a note to show their appreciation.

The act of gratitude is an important virtue we must teach our children.
