Motherhood: Love Your Child, Don’t Spoil Your Child (6)

Hello Great Mothers!

A mother’s love is characterized as a possessive and protective affection that mothers often show toward their children.
As discussed in my previous article, this love helps to build and strengthen the bond between mother and child. This mother-child relationship is key as it affects their emotional intelligence, social relationships, intellectual development, and moral awareness.

As mothers, we naturally love our children because we are their first contact. As loving parents, we want our children to succeed and will take any necessary measures to ensure that they have happy, fulfilling lives. But sometimes
We occasionally go too far and take on too much in our efforts to support, mentor, and care for our children. After all, there’s a narrow line between having kids who understand they can depend on us and producing unduly dependent kids.

It’s okay to show your child love and tenderness. It is important for their growth and development. But we need to be careful not to overdo it.

Yes, in the process of showing our children love and affection, some of our actions may negatively affect our children. One of them is:

Consistently giving in to their demands

It may be tempting to give in to your child’s every request while they are small. Children usually give an attractive glance and a lovely grin whenever they want something. A look that is not easy to resist. However, if you constantly get trapped by this look and give in to their demands, you risk losing your authority over theirs. This will produce obstinate and greedy children who are accustomed to obtaining anything they want.

In order not to overindulge a child, it is good to establish restrictions and limitations to maintain your control. It is your responsibility to give them direction since they require help in determining what’s right.

Watch out for my next article for more on this.
