Your Son Was Born With Purpose” — Helping Him Discover And Nurture His God-Given Gifts (A)
No child comes into this world empty. Every boy is born with something precious—gifts, passions, and seeds of greatness. But sadly, many grow up never discovering them, simply because no one helped them look within.
Today’s world is noisy and distracting. Our sons are constantly bombarded with images of success, fame, and celebrity. If we’re not intentional as mothers—if we don’t step in to guide them—the world will. And instead of using their gifts for God’s glory, they may feel pressured to imitate celebrities or use their talents for attention, not impact.
Ask gentle, reflective questions like: – “What do you enjoy doing the most?” – “What would you still love to do, even if no one paid you for it?” – “What makes you feel proud or fulfilled?”
These small questions open big doors.
Then, observe. Is he always solving problems? Making people laugh? Drawing, building, helping, leading? These aren’t random habits—they’re clues to his purpose.
Let him try different things—music, sports, tech, art, leadership roles, service projects. He doesn’t need to get it perfect. Discovery comes through experience.
Let him know his gifts are not just for him. They are tools to serve others, glorify God, and make the world better. Like David in the Bible—he was just a shepherd boy, but his courage, faith, and heart made him a king. His purpose didn’t begin in the palace—it began in the pasture.
Also, remind your son that comparison is a thief. Just because his gift looks different doesn’t make it less powerful. Help him embrace his uniqueness.
Create space for his growth. Enroll him in a class. Let him volunteer. Connect him with mentors. Speak life over him often.
‘We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” – Romans 12:6
You’re not just a mother—you’re a nurturer. Help your son discover and grow into the man God created him to be.
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.”
