MOTHERHOOD; MY EXPERIENCE!!! PARENTING; PART 1

Motherhood is a Great Experience. It involve having and raising children. This requires patient, strength, commitment and God’s wisdom, needed to handle sensitive matters.

Parenting is an important aspect of motherhood. According to Britannic dictionary, Parenting is described as a process of raising children and providing them with protection and care in order to ensure their healthy development into adulthood.

MOTHERHOOD; MY EXPERIENCE!!! PARENTING; PART 1

As mothers, we play significant roles in nurturing our children, ensuring that they are balanced psychologically, intellectually and emotionally. For instance, the way we teach them to handle success and failures will have great impact in their lives as they grow into adulthood.

My Eleven year old boy left home for school, with great excitement, but came back home very sad.

It was his school’s inter-house sport competition, he was in blue house. He was looking so radiant in His sport wear of blue and black, white socks with blue stripe. Blue head and wrist bands. With white canvas.

He was so excited in the morning of the competition, as he was representing his house in the relay and 100m race. He was really looking forward to win medals in the race.

Unfortunately, he was called to represent his house in the 200m amd 400m race instead of the relay and 100m race he had been practicing for. He did not win any medal as he came last in the 200m and 4th in the 400m race.

I knew I had to handle this with great care, because if not handled properly, it can affect his self-esteem, he may not be willing to go for competitions again, or go to school the next day as his mates will definitely make fun of him.

I told him that failure is the secret to success, that when one fail, the most important thing is to dust yourself, learn from your mistake and move on to do better…all these did not work, as he went into his room to cover himself up with my wrapper. Then I told him about Dr. Ben Carson, an American retired neurosurgeon and politician. Who initially had bad grades in school and his mates would make jest of him. He later rose to the top of his class after spending more time studying his books. He later became one of the best neurosurgeons in the world, youngest chief of pediatric neurosurgery in the United States……..

That was it, His face brightened up, full of hope that he can do better the next time.

Watch out for my next episode where I will be discussing more on my parenting experiences..
Have you had similar experiences with your kids? Please share with us how you handled this. Thank you.
