Motherhood: Prayer: The Foundation Of Parenting 7

Hello Great Mothers!

Inviting the Lord to help us as we nurture our children brings ease and helps us to achieve great results. In the previous article, we discussed that praying for our children is one of the ways of making prayer the foundation of our parenting.

We can ask this question, what is the best way of doing this? Praying the scripture is the best way we can pray for our children.

We must take seriously praying the Bible. It should be part of our parenting strategy. The Bible contains instructions that can help us in any situation. We can use it to find solutions to any challenges when parenting.

How do we pray the scripture?

To pray the scripture, pick a verse or verses of the Bible that speaks to the heart of the issue your child is dealing with and pray it frequently. For example; you found out that one of your children has taken the wrong step, either in his/her friend’s choice or lifestyle. Search for scripture in the Bible that deals with this problem. You can pray 1 King 3:9 for the child for a very long time. “Give (insert child’s name) a shrewd and perceptive heart so that she can tell what is right from wrong.”

Your child will be transformed over time. Such transformation is only possible through God. Your responsibility is to address the problem in prayer.

As mothers, we should pray for our children’s physical, spiritual, emotional, and health well-being. In everything they say and do, we pray to God to assist them and lead them right. Our prayer for them daily would serve as a daily reminder to us that God has entrusted unto us the upbringing of our children. That they belong to him, we are their custodian and He expects us to nurture them in a way that their lives will reflect His glory. It is also a reminder to us that we will give an account one day on how to nurture our children.
