Motherhood: Spending Quality Time With Your Kids

Families in today’s world seem to be very busy than ever. Especially the mother of the house, who has the responsibility of taking proper care of her home and also works to support the home financially.

Even the children are not left out as they have to participate in after-school activities like sports, music, and dance lessons. With so much going on, it’s simple to become preoccupied with managing everyday activities and forget to spend meaningful time with your child. However, not spending quality time with your child can negatively affect your relationship with your child, his/her well-being, and academic performance.

1)Emotional Distress
According to research, there is a direct link between our connection with our children and their self-esteem and “internal controls,” which denote a child’s capacity to control his emotions. Thus, when we create quality time with our children, they become happier when we spend time with them regularly.

2)Academic Progress
Your child’s social and emotional health and academic success are both influenced by your involvement in their education. However, studies suggest that kids who have supportive mothers who assist them more with their homework and who have reasonable expectations for them generally succeed in their education.

3)Risky Behaviors
Lack of quality time with your child might cause a variety of negative behavioral issues. Research indicates that kids who don’t have close relationships with their mothers are more likely to engage in dangerous, antisocial behaviors including delinquency and violence, teen pregnancy and unsafe s*x partnerships, as well as tobacco and illegal drug use. You may prevent your child from developing these habits by spending quality time with him/her.

Spending quality time with our kids prevents them from the tendency of wanting to be with and like their friends always. It prevents them from imitating their friend’s negative attitudes. Hence, we need to create from our busy schedules for our children.

I will have more discussions on this in my next article.
