Motherhood: The Hidden Strengths of Mothers (6)

An imaginative representation showcases a parent skillfully multitasking amid numerous daily responsibilities

Carrying Dreams on Our Back

Sometimes, motherhood feels like walking through life with a weight no one else can fully see — a weight made up of our own dreams, the dreams of our children, and the hopes of our family. We carry more than groceries, laundry baskets, or children on our backs — we also carry futures. This invisible load shapes every decision, every sacrifice, and every prayer made.

We dream of giving our children better opportunities, safer paths, and a life where they can stand taller than we ever could. Sometimes, this dream and its pursuit feel heavy on us as we navigate daily life. We smile and keep moving, but inside, we’re calculating every step to keep each dream alive. Even when challenges and uncertainties bring us to tears, we wipe our faces, lean on God, and press forward.

Mothers are dream carriers. We guard the fragile visions our children whisper — “Mum, I want to be a doctor” or “Mum, I want to dance” — and protect them fiercely. We rearrange plans, sacrifice wants, and sometimes set aside our own ambitions for a season so theirs can grow.

Carrying dreams means pressing through uncertainty. It’s saying “no” to ourselves so we can say “yes” to them. It’s packing school lunches while nursing a broken heart, showing up for the family after a sleepless night, and still giving a smile.

We don’t just carry dreams — we plant them in our children’s hearts, water them, protect them, and nurture them until they take root. We encourage them to dream bigger than we ever could, even if it means setting aside our own dreams for a season so we can nurture theirs and give them everything they need to succeed. Yet, with whispered prayers and quiet hopes, we continue tending to the dreams we hold in our own hearts.

Dear mother, your back may be tired, but the Creator has given you hidden strength. Every step you take is planting hope. One day, you’ll see — you didn’t just carry dreams; you delivered them. Stay strong.
