Motherhood: When You Feel Unseen And Unappreciated As A Mother 4

Mothers are, naturally, extremely sensitive. We are quick to notice things and act when necessary. We can tell when a child is angry, depressed, hungry, or sad even if he or she does not express it. We tend to have answers or solutions for every situation and will go the extra mile even if there is no immediate solution.

Therefore, we expect our husbands and children to notice when we are sad, sick, or simply need attention, even if we do not express it. But when they don’t, we feel unseen and unappreciated. When we feel this way, we must address the issue because it may affect our health. Hence, what should we do when we feel unseen and unappreciated? Some of those things we can do have been discussed in previous articles, others are;

Appreciate Yourself:

Take time to appreciate and honor yourself, for your accomplishments. Appreciation can be done through positive affirmations, or simply acknowledging your efforts. Self-appreciation improves your well-being and resilience in the face of feeling unappreciated by your loved ones. Reflect and celebrate yourself for all you are doing in the home. Taking care of everyone and everything in the home, combined with personal work, for the working mums is not an easy task. So, be proud of yourself, praise yourself, and speak positively to yourself.

Delegate Responsibilities: Distributing responsibilities among family members fosters a sense of shared responsibility. It reduces your burden and cultivates appreciation for each other’s contributions. Sharing responsibilities can transform the household and alleviate feelings of unappreciation:

Dividing tasks equitably ensures that the burden is not solely on you. It also promotes a sense of teamwork, and this unites the family.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
