Music Icon, Onyeka Onwenu, Buried In Lagos

Onyeka Onwenu, also referred to as the “Elegant Stallion,” was one of the most renowned figures in Nigerian music, and her passing has left the industry in mourning.

Following a moving funeral service at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, the iconic singer was laid to rest today, according to Lagos News360 Nigeria.

At the age of 72, Onyeka Onwenu passed away at Reddington Hospital in Ikeja on July 30. She touched the lives of innumerable fans across generations with her socially conscious songs, compelling stage presence, and powerful voice, leaving a lasting impact in Nigerian music.

Her family, friends, and many of her entertainment business colleagues attended the somber and poignant memorial service. She is survived by her two sons, who, along with her legacy, carry forward her memory.

May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
