My First Payment Was Like 500k, I Gave Everything To Church – Ruger

Afrobeats artist Ruger is sharing insights into his financial journey and how he managed his initial earnings.

In a recent interview with VJ Adams, Ruger disclosed that his first music-related payment was ₦500K, which he donated entirely to his church.

“I didn’t use it,” Ruger said. “I gave everything to the church. And the next payment was like a million — I was so happy, buying parfaits and stuff. Then more millions came within a year.”

The singer also discussed how financial success has influenced his perspective and approach to life.

“Money changes everybody, don’t mind what others say,” he added. “A lot of things change when you start making money. The way you address things and approach life becomes different.”

According to him, his aspiration is to achieve the kind of wealth that allows for a discreet lifestyle, similar to that of Jay Z.

“Some people are so rich they don’t stress at all. That’s the point I want to get to. You see Jay Z? No matter how many times he’s called out, he never speaks. That’s the kind of money I want.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
