Nancy Pelosi’s Husband Killed His Older Brother In 1957

Nancy Pelosi’s husband; Paul reportedly killed his older brother.

Paul Pelosi was just 16 years old, a high school student, when his sports car overturned in Northern California in February 1957. A newspaper report at the time said that Paul, a high school student, would be cited for murder as a misdemeanor. In the end, there was no court case and he was acquitted by a coroner’s jury.

According to a patrol party cited by the San Francisco Examiner, his 19-year-old brother David urged him to slow down before the fatal smash.

Paul Pelosi’s blood alcohol level exceeded California’s limit of 0.08%, according to police. He is pictured toasting actress Nicole Kidman during the Futures Without Violence event in 2017. Pelosi’s accident made news at the time. The San Francisco Examiner reported this on page 6 in the February 23, 1957 edition, saying that David had warned Paul to slow down.

Paul Pelosi has amassed a personal net worth of approximately $135 million, making his 82-year-old wife Nancy one of the richest members of Congress.

David is said to have told his younger brother to approach a tight curve on the Skyline Highway near Crystal Springs Dam, saying ‘it’s a bad stretch – the better slow’ – now California State Route 35.

Paul, now 82, told Patrolman Thomas Ganley that he tried to slow down by shifting gears in a stick shift car, but lost control.

“The car overturned on the road, bounced back from a small embankment, climbed 20 feet, spun around and rolled over and overturned with both the youths on the shoulder,” the Examiner said.

The accident happened on February 22, 1957, at 2:40 am. Paul had raised his brother from a girlfriend’s home in San Francisco and the siblings decided to go on a joyride instead of going straight home.

David Pelosi, a freshman at San Mateo College, had died on arrival at the hospital.

The newspaper said David was probably strangled by a brace he was wearing to support a neck fracture when he was diving into shallow water in Lake Tahoe.

The San Mateo Times reported that Ganley and another patrolman, Jack Rakestra, noted that David’s brace was ‘locked tightly against his neck’.

“They jacked up the car to ease the pressure but the young man was already dead,” the Times reported.

Paul broke his collarbone in the accident and was trapped under the car for some time. He managed to free himself and call for help.

Most recently in 2011, he was cited twice, once for running a red light and once for turning on the center line while driving.

The fatal accident happened six years ago when Paul married Nancy D’Alessandro, daughter of the former mayor of Baltimore. She took her last name and was elected to Congress in 1987 and then became the first woman Speaker of the House of Representatives.
