Ahead of the general elections in 2027, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) established reconciliation committees.
Moses Cleopas, the party’s national chairman, announced Professor Pat Utomi as the committee’s chairman and Buba Galadima as its co-chairman during the inauguration on Thursday.
Cleopas tasked the committee with carrying out its duties in a fair, impartial, honest, and completely faithful manner to the party’s constitution.
“Your assignment is not merely to settle disputes; it is to rebuild confidence, restore trust, strengthen unity, and reassure every member that the NDC remains one united family where justice, fairness, equity, and inclusion shall continue to prevail.
“I wish to assure every aspirant that the party deeply appreciates the sacrifices, commitment, resources, and energy invested by all those who offer themselves of service. The fact that only one candidate emerged in each position, does not diminish the leadership capacity or political value of others.
“Indeed, many of those who did not secure nominations remain invaluable assets whose contributions will be indispensable as we take the campaigns ahead, and by the grace of God, form government in 2027.
“Our campaign must therefore be inclusive. Every committed member must have a role to play. Every stakeholder must feel a sense of belonging. Every grievance, honestly expressed, deserves a listening ear.
“I therefore call upon all aspirants, party leaders, stakeholders, supporters, and members across the federation to cooperate fully with this committee,” he said
