NDE disburses resettlement items to trained job creation beneficiaries in Delta State

THE National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disbursed resettlement items to 130 beneficiaries of the Community Based Training Scheme (CBTS) and School-On-Wheel (SOW) of the Vocational Skill Development (VSD) department programme in Effurun, Uvwie local government council, Delta State.

The Director-General, NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, at the opening session of the event, said the objective of the SOW is to establish competent artisans in both rural and semi-urban areas who would in turn become self-employed and further create wealth and reduce poverty to others.

He hinted that the CBTS is to emphasise the significance of emerging sets for globalisation competitiveness and to impart relevant marketable skills set that are community-based to curb societal crimes and youth restiveness due to unemployment.

Fikpo added that the resettlement items are loan package with three years repayment plan that attracts nine percent interest.

He advised the beneficiaries to consider themselves already made as their chances of becoming their own bosses has been offered to them and emphasised the need of using the tool for its purpose and assured them that their progress will be closely monitored.

The state coordinator, NDE, Delta State, Mr Jinanwa Chukwuma, said the Vocational skill development department is the life wire and engine of the directorate.

He said that the beneficiaries have been trained on various skills such as satering, hair dressings, satellite dish installation, computer, amongst others.

He further stated that the resettlement items will help them create employment and wealth for themselves and others, thereby reducing poverty and employment in Delta State and the nation at large.

The Principal Information and Public Relations Officer, Okonkwor Ngozi Lynda, in a statement, said the director of the VSD department programme congratulated the beneficiaries and advised them to be serious in their chosen vocation and skills.
