NDLEA Apprehends Hair Stylist Selling Cannabis-Laced Chin-Chin

Agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have taken into custody Josephine Odunu, a 20-year-old hair stylist, and Edesemi Ikporo, a 30-year-old dispatch rider, for peddling and distributing chin-chin laced with illegal drugs to students and during social gatherings in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.

In a press release, the anti-narcotics agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, stated that on Sunday, March 10, 2024, NDLEA officers on patrol in the Opolo area of Yenagoa intercepted motorcycle dispatch rider Edesemi and seized 200 grammes of chin-chin made from cannabis sativa, which he was en route to deliver to a buyer.

He said that after a prompt follow-up operation, the hairdresser Josephine was arrested. She is the one who distributes the drugged chin-chin from the salon in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa. During the search of the salon, three kilogrammes of illicit substance were found, making the total weight of the illicit substance seized from the two of them 3.2 kilogrammes.

He mentioned that investigations showed they were selling the drugged chin-chin to students and at birthday parties, with Edesemi delivering the goods to customers. Josephine is a prominent distributor of a wanted suspect who made the drugged chin-chin.

Similarly, last Wednesday, NDLEA agents in Adamawa state apprehended two wanted individuals, Ajim Samuel (also known as Boss), 30, and Davidson Joshua (also known as Dantala), 36, as they were travelling from Onitsha, Anambra state, where they had gone to purchase a shipment of tramadol that contained 14,428 pills of the opioid, which they had concealed in the body compartments of their black Honda Civic car, registered YLA 623 SL.

They were apprehended at the Numan-Jalingo road, and N19,280 worth of cash and 21 grams of cannabis were found on them.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
