New York City Offering $170,000 Pay To Get Rid Of Rats

New York City is reportedly in need of a top-notch exterminator to get rid of the 18 million rats living in the state.

There were reportedly two rats to one person in New York as of 2014, putting the rodent numbers at almost 18 million.

New York is now in search of a Director of Rodent Migration, and the hiring price is up to $170,000 (Ā£140,000).

The hilarious requirement states that candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and a ā€œgeneral aura of badassery.ā€

Anyone applying for the position should also have a ā€œvirulent vehemence for verminā€ and the ā€œdrive, determination, and killer instinct needed to fight the real enemy – New York City’s relentless rat population.ā€

The rest of the advertisement read: ā€œCunning, voracious, and prolific, New York City’s rats are legendary for their survival skills, but they don’t run this city – we do.ā€

Giving a speech at last month’s bill signing, Mayor Eric Adams said: ā€œI’ve made it clear I hate rats and we’re gonna kill some rats. We’re putting a dent in our rodent problem.ā€

The Sanitation Department is also trying to raise money by offering t-shirts for $48 (Ā£39) each, with the following slogan: ā€œThis city is not run by rats. We do.ā€

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
