Newcastle Interested In Former United Forward, Cristiano Ronaldo
Newcastle United Football Club is currently a top contender for the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, following reports that the former Manchester United star is seeking an early exit from his current team, Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr amounts to £175 million per year, and runs until 2025, after he mutually agreed to leave Manchester United in November 2022, following his interview with Piers Morgans where he called out the Club’s owners.
Ronaldo has been performing well on the pitch since he arrived in Saudi Arabia, having scored 12 goals this season, which has placed Al-Nassr in second place in the Saudi Pro League, just three points behind the current leaders, Al-Ittihad.
However, reports suggest that Ronaldo now wants to leave Al-Nassr, with Real Madrid reportedly willing to offer him a non-playing role as an ambassador.
Spanish outlet El Nacional claimed that Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has assured Ronaldo that he will not be without work at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Nonetheless, Perez believes that Ronaldo’s playing cycle with the club is over, and would not be rejoining as a player.
Ronaldo’s partner, Georgina Rodriguez, is also said to be keen on a return to Madrid, where the couple first met.
However, the forward has other options available to him besides a move back to Spain.
According to Paddy Power, Ronaldo is most likely to switch to Major League Soccer (MLS), with the odds of him joining any side in the division being at 6/4.
Overall, it appears that Ronaldo is keen on leaving Al-Nassr, and while Real Madrid could be a potential destination for him, it is uncertain what role he would play with the club.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United and MLS sides are also in the mix for his signing, and it remains to be seen where he will end up next.
