Nickelodeon Star Says Her Mum Showered Her Until 17 Years Old

Jennette McCurdy, a popular actress on Nickelodeon, has admitted that her late mother bathed her until she was “17 or 18”.

The 31-year-old former child actor claims that up until her mother Debra McCurdy was diagnosed with cancer and passed away at age 56 in 2013 she never took a bath by herself.

In a recent interview, Jennette stated that her mother would wear clothing while ‘shampooing and conditioning’ her hair and ‘washing [her] body’, as well as checking her breasts and intimate areas for disease.

She explained on The Louis Theroux Podcast: “She would give me breast and vaginal exams in the shower and said that she was checking for lumps – she was just checking for cancer.”

Jennette claimed that the incidents left her feeling “uncomfortable” but that when she brought up the subject, her mother became “hysterical.”

The former child star has made troubling statements about her late mother before.

The Nickelodeon actress shared an excerpt from her frank book, I’m Glad My Mom Died, on Red Table Talk in September. In it, she said that Debra made her and one of her older brothers use a shower until she was 11 years old.

She said: “[My brother is] almost 16 at this point. I get really embarrassed when she showers us together.

“I can tell he does too… Scotty asked if he could shower himself [on his] own once.”

Jennette went on: “Mum sobbed and said she didn’t want him to grow up so he never asked again after that.”

When host Jada Pinkett Smith, 51, questioned Jennette about how the incident has affected their present “dynamic,” the actress said that she still considers the three of them to be good friends.

She added: “They have been a source of love and consistency in my life when there really wasn’t much anywhere else.

“We have such a beautiful bond … because of the things we went through together and the things we saw together.”
